RM28 million to build new JKR quarters

Cheras- RM28 million has been allocated to build a new quarters that will house 120 families comprising Public Works Department, JKR staff who are now staying at the Mile 21/2 in Cheras.
The allocation was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak after spending about 30 minutes of walkabouts at the quarters this morning.
Datuk Seri Najib who is Finance Minister said the units would be housed in two eight storey residential blocks. He expects the project to be completed in 30 months on a 16.76 hactares land.
Each unit would have a 110 sq meter area with three bedrooms, three washrooms as well as a living room, dining area adn kitchen.
The new quarters would also be provided with 200 car parking lots, playground, kindergarten, surau and two futsal courts.
On the existing quarters, Datuk Seri Najib said it would be demolished after the occupants had moved into their new homes.
He said that the 30 year old quarters was no longer suitable due to its condition.
Datuk Seri Najib said he would continue to carry out his walkabouts in other places.
